The day started with a debate on where to go,will it be West or North west ...so we decide on Mountbenger. Arrived at the bottom around midday and we could see various crows and buzzards playing about so a quick nip up to the top to find a nice breeze with definite cycles.
The wind was coming up the west face of the bowl and felt nice so I launched to find very nice conditions. I could not resist a few low level pass's in the still deep snow along the top of the bowl before getting more serious and actually using the constant feed of thermals, turning and more turning and we have some height now. Rob Dave and Dudley are all in the game now. We are nice and high about 1000ft above the hill and are checking out the NW face and it's giving.
I get to the point of dribbling over the back and take my time staying in the lift with Rob we get close to 4000ft and slowly slowly cross the yarrow valley. I arrive high above Rough knowe and find another climb so I top up with this and set of down the valley looking way down on Witchy and have my sights on Fastheugh. Still lots of height but it's not as good as it was but I arrive with spare on the big face of Fastheugh. I soar for a bit but it's not really working right so I land on top. Rob arrives shortly after.
We drink tea and talk about the wonderful little flight we have just experienced, not very far but we were in the air for a while and the views were something else and in an area we know well.
We fly down and Dudley comes to retrieve us. Epic.
