I decided to have a day away from the house today and as I was getting ready to head out Barry phoned so we agreed to meet up in Innerleithen and see what happened.
We decided to go to Tinto and found ourselves walking up to the top take off on the North side, we arrived about 1pm.
The wind was light coming straight out off the North and it was a little cloudy. We soon had the wings out and it was good to get the feel of a reverse launch again. We spent over an hour just doing ground handling. Every so often I would launch and go for a probe but could not stay up for long and would have to top land.
The sky was starting to look really good, maybe too good, the clouds were a tad big with very dark bottoms so I launched and flew out and around but could not find anything much. I ended up landing down on the bottom launch but kept the glider flying. The big cloud had passed over and a good breeze had now appeared so It was easy to run/fly the glider back up too a point where I could scratch back up to Barry who by this time was soaring about merrily.
Some nice soaring, the entire face was working well with very weak climbs.
After a while the breeze dropped away again and I landed on the top launch to chat on the phone to Jamie. Barry had taken two bites too much from the cherry and landed low after a fine effort so I launched again and flew down the spine crossing over to the South side very briefly to contemplate landind on that side but it looked wet in the bottom field so I came back to the North side and landed on the lower launch again and packed.
It was actually getting better again when we walked off. It was getting pretty cold and we had had enough.
Not epic but thats a nice easy start.
