I had to be in town this morning and as I was heading home around 11am my phone rang. It was Steve Giles and Jude, Steves partner.
They were at the Grey Mares tail and they wanted to go flying...just as well the glider was in my van I thought.
We went to Mountbenger and met up with Tim and set of up the face.
Super fit Steve and Jude had fitted in a stroll up to see Loch Skeen in the morning, never mind the 23 league bike run the day before!!!
We arrived on the top around midday and it all felt really nice with light wind and thermals coming through at regular intervals.
Jude is still low on airtime and she did well with some good groundhandling coached by Steve and some nice flying landing back on the top when it switched off at times.
We spent all afternoon messing about with loads of top landings/ slope landings and some gentle wagga. Tim had a good day, I think he enjoyed it.
Most of the day the wind was ssw. We flew down around 5.15, I went into the big bowl on the ssw side and found lots of nice lift, I think I could have stayed up there for ages after scratching back up and finding some nice little climbs. I was desperate for something to eat and really wanted to go and land so I finally broke away and landed to a welcome cup of tea from Steves camper van...thanks Steve..
Dave Lyal turned up and set of on the walk up, I do not have an update as yet as I had to get home for some grub, I did not pack any.
It was really nice to see Steve and Jude...I just hope the tea was not spiked.
Tommy.
