Where and when we've been flying
After an over nighter in Edinburgh, Dominic Job and I set out dead o’clock on the Monday morning for the airport for a 3 hour flight to Venice.
After missing out on the flying opertunities during the week I was keen to get some airtime
The forecast was for westerly winds. Strongish but dropping during the evening. Some discussion on the group but no one really that keen on the conditions
The excitement of pioneering a new site had faded slightly by the time I had wheezed and gasped my way to the top of what is quite possibly the steepest grassy slope in Europe. How the heck does grass stick to a gradient like this I thought, as I executed yet another Buster Keaton arm-flailing moment, narrowly avoiding cartwheeling back down to the reservoir.
Bob Matthews, Graham Tydeman, Johni & myself headed off to Burger Van hill (Known correctly as Creag Each). Must admit there were conflicting website weather forecasts as to which direction the met wind was Bob believing it was NW and myself feeling it was more to the North.
Well I suppose it was down to me to write up the day at Witchie Knowe since it’s judged that I had the best of the day out of the five of us that flew.
A promising forecast. Thermals and light southerly breeze meant I sorted out a day off. School sports day in the morning. Paragliding in the afternoon. Sounded like a plan.
The forecast was promising a southerly breeze in the evening so i jumped int he car and headed up to see where might be flyable.
